Creepy Facts About Halloween!

Ole Hallow's eve is creeping near, causing a frantic thrill on everyone's veins and goosebumps on their skin. Are you ready for it? Halloween is the second most celebrated holiday next to Christmas. You can actually see that every time October strikes in, the crafted Jack O' Lantern in the streets, the spider webs displayed in the countless backyards, people in every age wearing costumes especially of Dracula, and parking lot showing horror and thriller movies.

I, for myself, is a fan of Halloween. And if you're as much ready as I am in Halloween then better rummage the attic for some old clothes you can use for Halloween parties and while you're at it, let me share you some Halloween Creepy Facts that would be a great conversation-starter during a party.
  • Creepy Halloween Fact #1 - Orange and black are Halloween colors because orange is associated with the Fall harvest and black is associated with darkness and death.
  • Creepy Halloween Fact #2 - The carving of jack-o'-lanterns originated from the tradition of carving the faces of lost souls into hollowed out pumpkins and turnips. A candle was placed inside the carvings making the faces glow. The Halloween lanterns were placed on doorsteps to ward off evil spirits.
  • Creepy Halloween Fact #3 - The ancient Celts thought that spirits and ghosts roamed the countryside on Halloween night. They began wearing masks and costumes to avoid being recognized as human.
  • Creepy Halloween Fact #4 - According to legend, the jack-o’-lantern began with a fellow named Jack, who was too stingy to be allowed into Heaven and too mischievous to join the Devil in hell. As consolation, the Devil threw Jack a lighted coal, which Jack placed inside a turnip he was eating. It is said that Jack continues to use the coal to light his path as he searches for a final resting place.
  • Creepy Halloween Fact #5 - Halloween is the 8th largest card-sending occasion. There are over 28 million Halloween cards sent each year!
  • Creepy Halloween Fact #6 - Halloween was brought to North America by immigrants from Europe who would celebrate the harvest around a bonfire, share ghost stories, sing, dance and tell fortunes.
